State Religious Affairs Committee holds press conference

The committee chief said that important activities were carried out for ensuring implementation of state policy in religious sphere, regulating state-religion relations on legislation, strengthening cooperation among the religious communities and preventing religious intolerance and confrontation. Problems concerning religious situation in the country, promotion of harmful sects, problems worrying religious communities have been investigated and legal-moral conditions for the religious communities.
“Religious communities are being registered and the appeals concerning the registration were considered and corresponding decision were made. 40 religious communities were registered,” he said.
Hidayat Orujov said that the committee carried out joint measures with relevant state bodies to prevent import of illegal religious literature to the country.
“The state committee analyzed 350 religious books, import of 90 books promoting religious intolerance and discrimination was banned. The committee analyzed 40 religious books and passed a decision on amending it and eliminating comments promoting religious intolerance,” he said. /APA/
