Event on religious situation in Ganja held

Ganja State University held event on the religious situation in the city, APA’s Western bureau reports.
Chief of the State Committee for Religious Communities Hidayat Orujov, head of Ganja Executive Power Eldar Azizov, akhunds of city mosques, ministers of religion, senior officials of the city and intellectuals participated in the event.
The head of Ganja Executive Power opening the event underlined that the event was held on religious situation in the country on the initiative of State Committee for Religious Communities and Caucasian Muslims Office.
He said that the event aims to pay attention to existing religious situation. Then Deputy Chief of Ganja Executive Power Rovshan Sadikhov presented a report regarding the religious situation in Ganja. He said that western regional department of State Committee for Religious Communities was established in 2002 and stressed that 20 religious bodies have been registered in the department. He said that 9 of the religious groups operating in the city are of non-Islamic character. Senior officials, ministers of religion and intellectuals delivering speech on the above-said theme initiated their proposals. /APA/
