“The religious situation is stable in Azerbaijan. The level of obeying freedom of religion is high compared with other countries. The level of government-religion relations is also high,” chief of Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade told journalists, APA reports.
He said that there only are tiny problems in this field, caused by representatives of nontraditional sects.
Allahshukur Pashazade said these activities are prevented.
Noting that there were only 18 mosques during the Soviet period in Azerbaijan Allahshukur Pashazade underlined that their number is 1400-1700 now.
Commenting on mass tendency for religion Allahshukur Pashazade regarded it as indicator of independence.
“Everyone is free in choosing religion,” he said.
Allahshukur Pashazade also took a stance on the Azerbaijanis undergoing external influence while studying abroad.
“Their studying abroad is good. But they should not undergo influence and not forget that they are Azeris. I rarely meet such young men,” he said. /APA/
