Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade has received French Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross, press service of the CMO told APA.

CMO Chairman A. Pashazade noted he appreciates the coexistence of representatives of different religions in the environment of friendship, fraternity, and mutual understanding as a great blessing, and deepening of relations of our country with the Christian world is a positive case.

A. Pashazadeh stressed the great role of state policy, personally the efforts and activities of the head of state in ensuring and maintaining the high level of inter-religious and inter-faith relations in Azerbaijan.

He expressed satisfaction with the positive trends in Azerbaijan and France relations after the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War for the sake of the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

CMO chairman said that presenting Azerbaijan's fair struggle for the liberation of its lands within the framework of international law by some circles to the world as a confrontation with Christians is nothing but slander.

Mr. Pashazadeh said he regrets that the propaganda was mostly carried out by the Armenian Apostolic Church.

A. Pashazadeh unequivocally stressed that it does not become for religious figures to carry out propaganda of war with a cross in one hand and a machine gun in the other.

Noting that he had met with Armenian religious leaders many times in person since 1988, Pashazadeh said that the joint declarations signed by the World Council of Churches, the Russian Orthodox Church, and the Georgian Orthodox Church confirmed the non-religious nature of the conflict.

In turn, the French ambassador stressed that the existing sincere inter-religious relations and inter-faith mutual respect in Azerbaijan are of great interest and importance not only for the Caucasus region but also for the European space, including France.

Noting the importance of measures in this regard in the post-pandemic period in terms of promoting Azerbaijan's model of interreligious harmony in France, Gross stressed that the embassies will provide comprehensive organizational support to this work.
