Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade has denied the allegations that he has an enormous wealth.

“These allegations are slanderous and provocative,” Pashazade said on Wednesday, APA reports.

The chairman noted that he has had a talk with the head of state about this issue.

“I’m not going to lie. I have conversations with the president and I wonder what so many slanders are aimed at. They say I possess an enormous wealth abroad or in Azerbaijan. This is all provocative. Firstly, you should be glad if your Sheikh-ul-Islam has so much strength. Secondly, foreign countries are already slandering the religious leader. What are you trying to achieve by slandering me in our country as well? This outrageous provocation is being committed against our president and me from abroad. Some people say that they don’t accept slanders against the president but believe in slanders against the Sheikh-ul-Islam. However, this means that they accept the provocation. They say I am in control of donation boxes, which is another lie. What would I have to do with these boxes,” he added.
