Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli has voiced his disapproval of use of excessively loud speakers at mosques.
Gurbanli said at a meeting organized by the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) dedicated to the advent of the month of Muharram that although use of microphones at mosques is not prohibited, use of excessively loud speakers is not right, APA reported.
He noted that it is necessary to control the issue: "Sometimes the voice is so powerful that the sounds from two nearby mosques mix, so people can not distinguish what is said. Loud sound disturbs people. We receive complaints from districts about loud noises from microphones late at night, which bothers people’s sleep.”
As for the chest-beating and other public acts of mourning, Gurbanli said that in the case of any problem residents should report it immediately.
Pashazade, on the other hand, argued that it is not right of the government to intrude in a mosque’s area without any legal reason such as a crime or terror.
