2019 to be a record year for number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan

In January-October of 2019, number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan, increasing by 10.9% or 264 thousand people in comparison with the same period of the previous year, amounted to about 2,7 mln., State Tourism Agency told APA.

So, number of foreign citizens, traveling Azerbaijan will be more than 3 mln. in 2019.

Most of the guests came from Russia (about 800 thousand people) and Georgia (about 600 thousand people). The tourists from these countries make up 51.9% of the total guests of Azerbaijan.

An increase of 47.9% and 37.8% is observed in the number of tourists coming from Central and Southern Asia relevantly.

During October of 2019, 264 thousand foreign citizens traveled Azerbaijan and it means an increase of 52 thousand people or 24.7%.

The highest increase is recorded between Iran with 74.3% and Middle East countries with 65.1%. An absolute highest increase is observed in the number of Georgian (9,6 thousand people or 18%) and Russian (9,2 thousand people or 14.4%) tourists.
