“I have suggested the possibility of the visit of citizens of some Russian regions to Azerbaijan with internal passports during my speech at the 10th Russian-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum,“ said Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Tourism Agency.
According to him, tourism relations between the two countries are directed at developing relations not only with the center of Russia but also with its regions: “There is an idea of the possibility of visit of citizens of some Russian regions to Azerbaijan with internal passports of Russia in the upcoming future. Negotiations are underway in this regard. ”
Fuad Nagiyev stated that the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling Russia increased by 7,7 % compared to the previous year, the citizens from Russia to Azerbaijan – 6,1 %: “However, the dynamics are positive, we consider these figures small. Therefore we should continue our work.”
F. Naghiyev said the State Tourism Agency was interested in the simplification of visa issuance procedure and elimination of visa regime with some countries:
"We are interested in the simplification of visa issuance procedure. And we wish to introduce a visa-free regime for some countries. Of course, there are many issues proposed by the Agency regarding the development of tourism".
The agency chairman added that currently the issuance of electronic visas was successfully introduced in Azerbaijan:
"The availability of electronic visas creates conditions for the arrival of more tourists in the country".
