Number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Georgia increased by 12% in 2019

The number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Georgia in 2019 increased by 12% as compared with the previous year and reached 2,015,435 people, APA’s local bureau reports citing the annual report of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

With this indicator, Azerbaijan became a country having sent the greatest number of tourists to Georgia during the reporting year. And the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveled to Georgia in 2018 equaled to 1,807,185 people.

In the reporting period 1,988,986 cases of entry into and 1,989,109 cases of exit from the territory of Georgia through Red Bridge border crossing point were recorded. The Red Bridge border crossing point became the second most intensive border crossing point of Georgia.

Generally, last year the entry of 9,024,392 citizens of foreign countries into the territory of Georgia was recorded, which is 8.4% more as compared with the previous year. And the number of people staying for more than 24 hours in the country’s territory increased by 6.6% as compared with the previous year and reached 4,392,284 people.
