Azerbaijan sees 25% rise in number of tourists during three months of 2017 – president

“The Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council has already held its third meeting in Baku. The Council adopted a resolution, in which Azerbaijan’s role of leadership was noted”, said President Ilham Aliyev.

The president made the remarks at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development in the first quarter of 2017 and future tasks, APA reported.

The head of state noted that launch of the SGC is important for Azerbaijan, other participants of the project and the countries to benefit from the project in the future: “Transport sector also increased. Last month, the first train was departed from Azerbaijan to Iran via newly-constructed bridge on Araz River. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project is also planned to be launched this year”.

The president also said that number of tourists increased 25% during the first quarter: “This is related to the existing stability, newly-created infrastructure, 6 airports, beautiful roads, construction of hotels in Azerbaijan. During the reporting period, 40 visas were issued by ASAN Visa, citizens of over 80 countries obtain e-visas. Today, Baku is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Azerbaijan will host the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games next month. This will be the great sport holiday”.
