The Kremlin hopes that the sanctions against Nord Stream-2 will not impede successful completion of this gas pipeline project, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Monday, APA's local bureau reports.

"The situation is being analyzed. We proceed from the understanding that such sanctions are unacceptable to us," he said. "We do hope, of course, that such steps will not impede successful implementation of this important project."

According to Peskov, it is too early to talk about specific deadlines for completing the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

"It’s too early to talk about this yet," he said when asked, in what time frame the project can be implemented taking into account the introduction of US sanctions against it.

"We are analyzing the situation, the main goal is to complete the construction of this pipeline," Peskov added responding to a question about a possibility of replacing the contractor of the gas pipeline construction.
