Russian and French Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation, APA's Moscow correspondent reports quoting the Kremlin press service.

Putin briefed him on the implementation of the trilateral statements on Karabakh on November 10, 2020 and January 11, 2021.

The situation in the region as a whole is stable, steps have been taken to restore economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus and to meet the humanitarian needs of the population. They expressed mutual intention to work together on various aspects of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, first of all, in the OSCE Minsk Group.

The presidents of Russia and France discussed the situation in Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power, the situation around the Iranian nuclear issue, and the problem in southeastern Ukraine.
