"Great importance is attached to communication issues at the state level in Azerbaijan," said Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration while answering a question on the late announcement of official information on the helicopter crash that occurred on November 30, APA reports.
H. Hajiyev noted that necessary efforts are made in the direction of timely and operative informing of the public: "Our experience during the war, the experience of measures of conduction of state communications on the issues regarding the activity of Armed Forces also show it. In some cases, when such incidents occur, certain serious investigations, checks are needed. Conducting serious investigations and providing the public with exact and comprehensive information is one of the main terms. It should be taken into consideration that we speak about human life in such cases. Appropriate information should be provided to families.
Unfortunately, sometimes, the names of some people are disseminated on social media without official information.
This can be traumatic for families. It is possible that the names, the birth dates are not correct. It is possible that information has been provided about a person who was not in the tragedy. We should take into account that this can be huge trauma for families. It can also confuse the public. We also understand that the implementation of operational communication by the relevant agencies, even in the form of initial information, is an important condition. On the other hand, it is important for us as a society to show strategic patience. In this regard, I would like to note that the Azerbaijani media has demonstrated professionalism.
The media prevented providing unspecified information. But, unfortunately, we did not witness it on social media. As a society, as people working in the media field, it is important that we approach those issues as sensitively as possible.”
The presidential aide once again expressed his condolences to the families of the servicemen martyred in the helicopter crash.
