"Supporting regional cooperation and mediating for this, is important for Georgia," First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Lasha Darsalia told APA's bureau in Georgia.

According to him, these are not classic mediation efforts.

"Because, we do not suggest any new ideas," said First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia while answering the question on the mediation role of the Georgian government between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

According to him, mediation means establishment of a basis and platform for the development of joint view for the future of the whole region, which is so important: "At the same time, it means that we do not suggest anything parallel to existing platforms for negotiations. If cooperation is needed, if countries need not only bilateral, but also multilateral cooperation, we are here and suggest the opportunity within the framework of the platform, which we announced."

L. Darsalia has also commented on whether there is any change in Georgia's approach to the "six-party platform". Deputy Minister noted that Georgia’s position in this issue is very simple and his country approaches positively to cooperation. However, he reminded that the conflict between Russia and Georgia has not been solved, there are no signals about Russia’s desire to solve these issues. Therefore they do not consider their participation possible in the same platform with Russia.
