"Owing to political experience and wisdom of Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's people were saved from chaos and poverty," Vice Speaker of the State Duma of Russia, famous journalist Peter Tolstoy told APA's Moscow bureau.
According to him, it's treated with great respect the personality of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in Russia: “Thanks to his political experience, the steps were taken by him, Azerbaijan's people were saved from chaos and poverty. Everyone knows what happened in the country when he came to power in Azerbaijan for the second time. He has a great role in the restoration of independent Azerbaijan. I remember well the situation in Azerbaijan in the early 90s. At that time, I often visited Azerbaijan as a journalist. Chaos, arbitrariness in the country reached a peak. With the coming to power of Heydar Aliyev, we saw the construction of a new Azerbaijan. It became his historical merit to the Azerbaijani people. And she, I am sure, will forever remain in the memory of the Azerbaijani people.”
P. Tolstoy spoke about the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia: “Today, there are very good, warm relations between the two countries. We really appreciate it. We want this relationship to develop even more. Today, relations between countries are developing both at the intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary levels. There is cooperation between the State Duma and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. We also cooperate in the international arena - the OSCE and the Council of Europe, we participate in the project “One belt, One Road”. We are facing a number of tasks that we must solve together. In a word, we are grateful to our parents and grandparents for being able to speak the same language today. It is very important. I really hope that our bilateral relations will continue to grow stronger.”
