Reports alleging that people were not given compensation for their properties demolished in Azerbaijan are false, said Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov.
“These reports are false. Owners of the demolished properties have been given compensation. Do not pay attention to what journalists write,” Asadov said addressing the parliament’s plenary meeting on Wednesday.
Commenting on the matter, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev said that issues related to the protection of property rights must be dealt with in a sensitive way.
“What would it mean to demolish someone’s property in the 21st century? We have adopted laws protecting property rights. Concerned bodies must react to media reports in this regard,” he noted.
