During today’s parliamentary meeting, MP Fazil Mustafa has raised his objection to the growing number of orders and medals in Azerbaijan.
“Once there was a proposal that Baku be granted the title of ‘heroic city’ because of World War II. But why should we make Baku a heroic city of Russia? In addition, we should abolish these orders and medals, which are a Soviet tradition. Rather we should give people cash prizes in order to stimulate them.
Speaker Ogtay Asadov reacted to this idea, noting that not everything should be related to materiality.
In his turn, first vice-speaker Ziyafat Asgarov said in response to the MP’s remark about ‘ heroic city’, saying “this is our history and a value given to our history.”
