Azerbaijan is one of the countries known for their stability, development and progress in the world, President Ilham Aliyev said addressing a ceremony of launching a drinking water supply and sewage system project in the country’s Gobustan city.
"Now you are witnessing the processes going on around the world. There are many problems in the economic, political and military fields. Risks and threats are growing, blood is spilled, conflicts and wars are erupting, and stability is broken,” he said.
President Aliyev stressed that against the background of all these processes, Azerbaijan is an island of stability and development.
“The well-thought policy, the unity between the people and government, and the sense of patriotism characteristic of our people—these particular factors are the basis of our achievements," he said.
The president went on to say that despite the fall in oil prices this year, Azerbaijan has managed to boost its currency reserves.
“This tells us that even in difficult years we did not spend our reserves but also we made extra money. This money serves the interests of our country, our people. With this money, we’re building schools, hospitals, constructing roads, water lines and strengthen our country's defense capacity,” he said concluding his speech.
