Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (parliament) has sent invitations to all parliamentary elections to observe the upcoming presidential election in the country, Parliament First Vice-Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov told APA’s Moscow correspondent.

He noted that strict security measures are being taken in Azerbaijan in connection with the upcoming presidential election. "In general, Azerbaijan's security is in safe hands. Therefore nobody should worry about it," Asgarov said.

The vice-speaker also answered questions about international observation missions to monitor the election in Azerbaijan.

"The Azerbaijani parliament has sent invitations to all parliamentary organizations to observe the upcoming election in the country. Our other state bodies, including the Foreign Ministry and the Presidential Administration, have also sent invitations to non-parliamentary organizations and have received their consent. I think that enough international organizations will monitor the presidential elections and I do not see any problems with their participation,” he added.

The next presidential election in Azerbaijan is to be held on 11 April 2018, according to the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on February 5.
