Despite the fact of occupation, Azerbaijan is developing successfully, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the 6th Global Baku Forum on Thursday, APA reports.
Azerbaijan is among the leaders in the world in terms of poverty and unemployment rate, the president noted.
He pointed out that more than 3,000 schools and 600 hospitals have been constructed and repaired in Azerbaijan over the past period.
President Aliyev said that initially particular attention was paid to economic and political independence, stressing that a country that is not economically independent cannot be politically independent.
“The policy we’re pursuing relies on the interests of our people. Azerbaijan’s economy has had a 3.5-fold growth over the last 10 years, which is a remarkable achievement. The Davos World Economic Forum ranks Azerbaijan #35th in terms of global competitiveness. Another Davos assessment refers to inclusive development index, and in here Azerbaijan is #3,” he added.
According to the president, Azerbaijan also stands out in terms of per capita investments.
Over the past 10 years, $230 billion has been invested in Azerbaijan, the head of state noted.
