“The National Council held a rally today with no clear ambition. They seemed to be willing to gather together people—regardless of whether they carry an Islamic flag or the EU flag. They tried to hold a rally with 300 to 500 people,” Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Siyavush Novruvoz said in a statement to APA of the rally held by the National Council of Democratic Forces.
“We do know that Ali Karimli sell membership documents to non-members in order for them to migrate to Europe. That’s the ugliest kind of corruption. Law enforcement agencies are investigating this issue. The European authorities have also made statements in this regard. This is already being prevented. Migrants who go to Europe qualify for financial aid from those countries. Now these persons who engage in brokerage rather than politics attempt to hold a rally. Some of them even go on to set up their own small business in Europe and send their earnings to Ali Kerimli from there. We already have information about it. Some of them come under influence from security forces and begin working with them,” he said.
Novruzov said that even the organizers admitted that people had not joined the rally.
"Of course, people do not trust them. People trust their own state, president and the ongoing development. People say ‘no’ to such persons who are funded from abroad, serve the Armenian lobby, and work against the interests of the Azerbaijani people. The rally was joined by their relatives, some NGOs, relatives of some prisoners. Some had even been paid to join the rally. That’s their social base: Same people, same ideas for years. Why should people trust them now? Compared to them, the New Azerbaijani Party today did some good deeds by planting trees in several places. The people joined such an act were more in numbers than those who joined their rally. It’s because people trust us,” he said.
