Alleged St. Petersburg suicide bomber Akbarzhon Jalilov was deported from Turkey in December 2016, the Turkish newspaper Yeni Akit reported.

The exact period of his stay in Turkey is unknown. After being blacklisted, however, he did not leave the country for another year and was living there illegally, the publication says.

At least 14 people were killed and dozens were injured after an explosion rocked a subway station in St. Petersburg, Russia. It became clear that Russian citizen Akbarzhon Jalilov, an 22-year-old ethnic Uzbek from Kyrgyzstan, had carried out the attack.
