Year has passed since liberation of Azerbaijani Jabrayil city from Armenian occupation, APA reports.

Jabrayil city was liberated from Armenian occupation on October 4 with successful combat operations as a result of a counterattack, started by the Azerbaijani Army on September 27.

Azerbaijani Army, which broke through the frontline on the first day of battles, forced the enemy to withdraw. Many villages of Jabrayil district were liberated from occupation within a few days.

Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev announced the liberation of Jabrayil city from occupation in his address to the nation on October 4.

President said in his address that occupation of nine more villages of Jabrayil district - Karkhulu, Shukurbayli, Yukhari Maralyan, Charakan, Dashkasan, Horovlu, Dejal, Mahmudlu, and Jafarabad was ended on October 4 besides Jabrayil city.

Jabrayil was the first district, which was liberated from occupation during the 44-day Patriotic War.

As a result of the Jabrayil operation, numerous manpower and equipment of the Armenian army were destroyed.

October 4 has already gone down in history as a liberation day of Jabrayil from occupation.

Medal “For liberation of Jabrayil” was established in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Under the order of President Ilham Aliyev, servicemen of Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who participated in combat operations conducted for the liberation of Jabrayil district from occupation and demonstrated private bravery and courage, were awarded the medal “For liberation of Jabrayil”.

Remind that Jabrayil district was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on August 23, 1993. Armenian destroyed Jabrayil city and villages of the district, razed cultural, historical, religious monuments, cemeteries to the ground, committed ecological terrorism during the occupation.
