Former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari tests positive for coronavirus

Former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari has been diagnosed with Covid-19, the disease caused by novel coronavirus, according to the Office of the President, APA reports citing Uutiset.

Ahtisaari's test for the disease came back positive on Monday. He is said to be doing well under the circumstances.

The office previously reported on Saturday that Ahtisaari's wife Eeva had tested positive for the disease and described her condition as good. Both are 82 years old.

Ahtisaari was Finland's 10th President and held office from 1994 - 2000. He is also a Nobel Laureate, having won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008 for his work in international conflict resolution.

He is also the founder of the Crisis Management Initiative, a non-profit organisation dedicated to mediation and conflict resolution.
