The French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) unveiled on Tuesday that it has launched a preliminary investigation into TikTok, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"A complaint about TikTok was received in May. This complaint is now under investigation,” a spokesman for CNIL noted, without disclosing the cause for the complaint about the video-sharing app's practices.
Previously, TikTok faced probes in the United States, the European Union and the Netherlands. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to ban the app in the US with TikTok owner ByteDance planning to legally challenge the decision before US courts.
