The official coronavirus death toll in the UK has risen by 233 to nearly 42,000, according to the latest Government figures, APA reports citing Standard UK.
The Department for Health and Social Care said the total number of deaths recorded in the UK across hospitals, care homes and other settings now stands at 41,969.
The increase is a significant rise from the past two days, when some of the lowest daily rises were recorded since the outbreak began.
The DHSC also said in the 24-hour period up to 9am on Tuesday, 113,107 tests were carried out or dispatched, with 1,279 positive results.
The Government figures do not include all deaths involving Covid-19 across the UK, which is thought to have passed 53,000.
