Ukraine reports 8,549 new coronavirus cases

Ukraine has recorded 8,549 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 2,078,086, APA reports citing Ukrinform.

"Some 8,549 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Ukraine as of May 1, 2021. Some 374 children and 145 health workers fell ill," Health Minister Maksym Stepanov posted on his Facebook page.

According to Stepanov, 351 deaths, 3,051 hospitalizations and 14,956 recoveries were registered in Ukraine on April 30. As many as 83,336 tests were performed over the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,078,086 people in Ukraine have contracted coronavirus, 1,670,481 have recovered, and 44,436 have died.

The highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours was recorded in Dnipropetrovsk region (745), Kharkiv region (730), Kyiv city (671), Donetsk region (570), and Cherkasy region (537).

Some 49,985 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Ukraine on April 30, Stepanov noted.

As many as 752,295 people have been vaccinated against coronavirus since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine, 752,293 of them receiving one dose and 260 people getting two doses (two persons received one dose abroad).
