Georgian MIA makes an appeal regarding mass brawl occurred in Dmanisi

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has called on parties to the confrontation to comply with legal demands of police and to exercise restraint so as not to turn the conflict into artificial ethnic confrontation, an official statement of Georgian MIA notes, APA’s Georgia bureau reports.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs as a body maintaining law and order calls on citizens collecting in Dmanisi to follow demands of the law and to exercise restraint. The police will act within the framework of the mandate given him and will respond to any violation of law,” it has been noted.

The statement also reads that the dispute that occurred among local residents in Dmanisi on May 16, turned into group violence. Police determined the identities of persons who attended the confrontation and all necessary criminal procedure acts are underway within the investigation. In order to prevent an artificial increase of tension employees of Georgian MIA have been mobilized to the site.
