From Tuesday, July 13, Latvia issues red warning over extreme heat for this working week as weather forecasters urge the population to be cautious, APA reports citing Xinhua.

Experts of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre call on the population to be cautious, avoid standing in direct sunlight, look after their health by following doctor advice.

From Tuesday for the rest of the working week, air temperatures in the daytime, in the afternoon will heat up to + 30 … +34 degrees Celsius. At night, Latvians will experience the so-called tropical nights when the air temperature is +20 degrees or warmer.

In the weekend, the weather is expected to change and the tropical air masses which bring extreme heat will slightly move away from Latvia. The weather, however, is forecast stay hot and sunny, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
