The gross domestic product (GDP) of the United Kingdom grew 2.3% in April compared to March, according to a preliminary report released by the country's Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Friday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The economy expanded a the fastest monthly pace since July 2020 but the April GDP figure came in slightly below market expectations. It remained 3.7% below the February 2020, pre-coronavirus pandemic level.
The services sector growth stood at 3.4%, while the production and the construction sectors declined by 1.3% and 2%, respectively. Manufacturing was 0.3% down.
The UK economy expanded 1.5% in the three-month period ending with April.
