In the framework of the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Azerbaijan, the measures are being taken for minimization of people’s massive gathering and contacting places, as well as the works and processes associated with this and in order to ensure implementation of these measures, the relevant measures are also being taken by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), the CBA told “APA-Economics”.
In order to manage the density of citizens in banks’ branches and offices, as well as in front of ATM terminals, the appeal has been made by the Central Bank to the authorized banks for extension until September 30, 2020 of validity period of payment cards of active customers for retirement pensions, social allowances, scholarship and compensation payments, as well as the targeted state social aids the validity period of which has been expired. That appeal has been accepted by the authorized banks and the validity period of relevant payment cards was automatically extended.
At the same time, it was recommended by the Central Bank to all other banks to render the services of delivery to address by means of courier of the newly emitted payments cards by customers’ wishes taking into consideration the banks’ technical capabilities and the security requirements.
Note that in connection with the pandemic, in March of the current year as well, the appeal was addressed by the Central Bank to the authorized banks regarding extension of validity period of the aforementioned payment cards and thanks to the implemented measures, the bank-customer contacts were reduced as much as possible.
