Azerbaijani Minister of Economy, co-chairman of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan-and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Shahin Mustafayev has met with the Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion of the United Kingdom, co-chair of Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIC) Baroness Rona Fairhead. They discussed existing economic relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Mustafayev said Azerbaijan attaches importance to bilateral relations with Great Britain. It was noted that more than 500 British companies operate in Azerbaijan. BP participates in 7 oil and gas projects in the country. So far, Britain has invested more than $27 billion in Azerbaijan’s economy. Azerbaijani students are studying in the leading universities of the world, including Britain.
He also underlined importance of Baroness Rona Fairhead’s visit to Azerbaijan. Mustafayev spoke about Azerbaijan’s economy, reforms conducted in the country. He also drew attention to Azerbaijan’s position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Baroness Rona Fairhead highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s successes in economic field, cooperation with Britain, including BP.
