According to Ansa, Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has been arrested for alleged financial crimes that don’t involve the club, APA reports Football Italia.

Ferrero was taken to prison this morning, while five other people have been placed under house arrest.

The Guardia di Finanza arrested Ferrero for alleged corporate crimes and bankruptcy in an investigation carried out by the Paola Public Prosecutor in the region of Calabria.

Ferrero boguth Sampdoria in June 2014 from the Garrone family.

He released an interview with La Repubblica newspaper two days ago, saying that he was ‘tired’ and was looking for investors who could buy the club.

“After eight years of sacrifice, passion, hard work, but also personal attacks and accusations, I start being tired,” he said.

“I will continue to do my best for Sampdoria, but if there are buyers willing to acquire the club, please introduce them to me, I am ready to listen to them, provided they give the right value to the club.”
