Barcelona have confirmed that Ousmane Dembele will be out of action for the next five weeks following a a fibrillar break in the left thigh muscle, APA reports citing BeSoccer.

An unexpected setback for Valverde. After the painful defeat in the league opener against Athletic Bilbao, the coach now has another setback with the Dembele's injury.

The French attacker, who played all 90 minutes of the game in San Mames, will be out of action due to a fibrillar break in the left thigh femoral muscle.

The game ended and he felt a knock and Barca confirmed this Monday, that the player's injury had worsened.

"The tests carried out on the first team player Ousmane Dembele have confirmed that he suffers a fibrillar break in the left thigh femoral muscle. The approximate recovery time will be five weeks", reads part of the club's statement.

Due to this, the French player is practically out of play for a month and Valverde must now ensure efforts are made to improve his attack.
