Italy defeated Austria 2-1 in extra time to qualify for the EURO 2020 quarterfinals on Saturday.

Austrian goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann made an incredible save to deny Nicolo Barella in the 17th minute at London's Wembley Stadium.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.

In minute 65, Marko Arnautovic's goal from a header was disallowed for an offside call after a VAR, or Video Assistant Referee, review.

The match went to extra time as the second half ended 0-0.

In minute 95, Italy broke the deadlock when Federico Chiesa made a close-range finish to put his team ahead.

Matteo Pessina doubled the gap with a left-footed shot from close range in the 105th minute.

In minute 114, Austria narrowed the gap with a goal from Sasa Kalajdzic. But the Italian team overcame resilient Austria to book their place in the quarterfinals.

The Blues will take on the winner of the Belgium-Portugal match that will be played Sunday, in the next round.
