On 15th May, the president of Real Sociedad admitted this on the radio station 'Cadena COPE': "Am I jumping up and down? Yes... well. We are due 24 million euros."

This is because when Sociedad sold Griezmann to Atletico Madrid in the 2014-15 season, they kept 20% of the player's rights. In other words, they would be entitled 20% of the money the next time Griezmann was sold. The club did this as they were well aware his market value could skyrocket in the future.
That is a big economic boost for the team from Northern Spain. They finished ninth in La Liga and they are looking to try and get into the Europa League spots. Now, they will be able to move with more freedom in the transfer market.
