Geopolitical significance of official visit of Mehriban Aliyeva to Russia - OPINION OF RUSSIAN EXPERTS

"The official visit of Mehriban Aliyeva to Russia bears great public and political significance. The meetings held with supreme leaders of Russia are apparent evidences of this significance. This is a very important point", Director of Russian Political Researches Institute, political analyst Sergey Markov said while evaluating the results of the first official visit to Russia of the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva in his statement to a Moscow correspondent of APA.

He said that lately, the relations between Russia and Azerbaijan have permanently developed along the ascending line: "The personal relations between presidents of the two countries are known to everybody. The great reverence is paid to in Russia to Mehriban Aliyeva as well. In our country, Mehriban Aliyeva is loved both as the First Vice-President and the great public and political figure. She has put her signature on huge humanitarian projects between Azerbaijan and Russia. I think that another purpose of this visit of Mehriban Aliyeva is to give a new momentum to the humanitarian projects implemented between the two countries. The significance of this visit also includes the result of consistent work of leaders of the two countries and is directed to deepening of relations between the two countries in all areas".

The Russian political expert also stressed the significance of the fact that the Azerbaijani delegation at the X Russian-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum was lead by Mehriban Aliyeva: "This Forum which has been functioning for many years has implemented and is implementing hundreds of projects between Azerbaijan and Russia. The Forum itself is a very successful project. The huge works are being done between the two countries in the economic and humanitarian spheres. The participation of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva in such an event and her leadership over the delegation is an indicator of the significance attached by the official Baku to not only economic but also political relations with Moscow".

The Russian political analyst also talked about the geopolitical significance of the official visit of Mehriban Aliyeva to Moscow: "Baku and Moscow intend to raise their relations to a higher level. I think that the geopolitical significance of the official visit of Mehriban Aliyeva is focused on just the raising of the relations to a higher level ".

“The official visit of Mehriban Aliyeva showed how much Azerbaijan is an important country for Russia,” Dmitry Savelyev, Member of State Duma of the Russian Federation, head of Russia-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group told APA’s Moscow correspondent.

“They are well aware in Russia that Azerbaijan is the most reliable fraternal and partner country in the Caucasus. The visit of Mehriban Aliyeva confirmed this thesis once more. The attendance of Azerbaijani First Vice President at the Russian-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum increased the importance of the event. This indicates that the Interregional Forum has already reached a new level. The visit of Azerbaijani First Vice President to the Forum was great honor and responsibility for Russia. All of these demonstrated the level of Russian-Azerbaijani relations,” Dmitry Savelyev stated.
