Hikmet Hajiyev: “EU has firm and unanimous support to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity”

Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President - Head of the Department for Foreign Policy Affairs of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration has commented on support to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity in the resolution on the implementation of EU foreign and defense policy by the European Parliament, APA reports.

H. Hajiyev stated that demonstration of the consistent position regarding the territorial integrity, inviolability of borders and sovereignty of Azerbaijan by the EU is estimable.

H. Hajiyev stated that before this, there was firm and unanimous support to Azerbaijan's territorial integrity in the final documents of the Brussels Summit on the "Eastern Partnership", as well as in the partnership priorities document prepared between the EU and Azerbaijan.

“As a continuation of this line, we highly appreciate this position regarding the territorial integrity of the Eastern Partnership member states, including the Republic of Azerbaijan in the document of Foreign and Defense Policy Implementation by the European Parliament.

We would particularly emphasize that the principles of the Helsinki Final Act should be stated unanimously and strictly by the European Union and other international institutions, too."
