"In my personal opinion, what happened in the Eastern Mediterranean is a provocation," representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Azerbaijan Novber Ferit Vechi told APA.
According to her, threatening Turkey with sanctions they are trying to put pressure from all sides: “Turkey is a big country and will never bow to these threats. Just as Turkey has not bowed to the threats to date. EU should not change this approach towards Turkey. Because this is an ugly approach. So far, no matter what Turkey does, a reason is always found and double standards have been applied to Turkey. Turkey is great power in the Mediterranean. I think this is what worries the international community.”
Novber Ferit Vechi has also brought into attention Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s support to Turkey regarding Eastern Mediterranean: “Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has issued a very strong statement regarding this issue. Azerbaijani President stated that Azerbaijan stands by Turkey in any case and it is so in the Eastern Mediterranean issue too. This was the strongest and most accurate support ever given. President Ilham Aliyev’s support expresses a very strong support.”
