UN agencies completed mission of assessment of needs in Azerbaijan’s regions suffering from conflict

The four-days’ visit of the coordinated assessment mission consisting of specialists of the UN agencies to Azerbaijan’s regions suffering from the conflict has come to an end, the UN Representation in Azerbaijan told APA.

The mission consisted of representatives of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, Food and Agriculture Organization, International Migration Organization, the UN Humanitarian Issues Coordination Office, the UN Development Program, UNICEF, the UN High Commissariat for Refugees and the World Health Organization.

Members of the mission met with heads of executive powers in Barda, Agdam and Agjabedi regions, as well as visited the places of residence of temporary internally displaced people and communities suffering from the conflict. They also traveled to villages and settlements situated near conflict zone in order to assess damage caused to civilian houses and infrastructure. The report on results of the mission will be prepared in order plan relevant humanitarian response mechanisms in various sectors that will allow for understanding the main needs and will support the government’s activities.
