The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev has congratulated the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of Independence Day, APA reports citing press-service of the President.

The congratulatory letter reads:

"Dear Alexander Grigoryevich, I sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of the national day of the Republic of Belarus, Independence Day, which embodies the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi German occupiers in the Great Patriotic War.

Belarus is welcoming the 75th anniversary of this truly historic event as a prosperous country, which is moving forward resolutely on the path of the strengthening of independence and sovereignty, improvement and modernization of public administration and political system, dynamic and continued socio-economic development.

Taking this pleasant opportunity, I would like to congratulate you on the successful delivery of the 2nd European Games, which were excellently held to become an occasion of great festivity for all the sports fans, treating them to superb performances and unforgettable memories.

This large-scale sporting event once again demonstrated Belarus’ devotion to the unshakable principles of Olympic movement to strengthen peace, trust and mutual understanding among nations and countries.

Dear Alexander Grigoryevich, I wish you the best of health, success in all your endeavours, and the people of brotherly Belarus peace and well-being."
