Those who criticize freedom of the press in Turkey, Russia, and Azerbaijan should first speak about what happens in their countries, said Lord George Foulkes, Member of the British Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said at the spring session of PACE.
“It is easy to criticize others. For example, no matter how strong our BBC World's reputation is in the world, there are restrictions on journalists. That is why, first of all, we have to talk about our countries. We should be sure that the media in our country is independent. Otherwise, when we raise issues regarding other countries, we would be hypocritical,” said British MP.
