Member of the House of Lords, Lord Sheikh has sent a letter to Azerbaijani ambassador to Great Britain Elin Suleymanov on the 30th anniversary of restoration of independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

"I am immensely pleased to remain a friend of Azerbaijan. It is indeed a pleasure to be connected to your country, and I assure you that my support will continue.

I would like to take the opportunity, to congratulate you on the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence, and on your country's birthday celebrations which take place today. It is indeed an immense milestone, and one to be proud of. I have noted the progress you have made as a nation over the past 30 years, which has been truly outstanding.

Furthermore, I am very pleased to see that bilateral trade, between the UK and Azerbaijan, continues to thrive. The United Kingdom has strong business ties to Azerbaijan, and our mutual trade is in excess of £1bn.

It is indeed a strong partnership, and strategically advantageous for both countries.

I would like to add that, alongside other Parliamentarians, I have steadfastly supported Azerbaijan in its recent struggles. This is particularly true in relation to the recent conflict in Nagomo-Karabakh, when your country rightfully acted to reclaim what was justly yours.

I am very confident, that the region will be successfully integrated into Azerbaijan, and that this assimilation will bring stability to the area. The welfare of everyone in the country is of paramount importance, and I am sure this will continue to be a priority under your current leadership.

Finally, I would just like to conclude by reiterating my congratulations on the 30th Anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence. I hope we can all work together to strengthen ties between our two countries in every field possible. I will of course do whatever I can in relation to this, as Azerbaijan continues its admirable progress as an independent nation.

I have been to Azerbaijan, and I am looking forward to our next Parliamentary visit to your country," the letter reads.
