Elmar Mammadyarov met High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos on the sidelines of the 2nd Summit of World Religious Leaders in Baku.

Miguel Ángel Moratinos firstly expressed his gratitude for awarding him the commemorative medal on the "100th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan". He congratulated the Azerbaijani Government for the successful organization of the 2nd Summit of World Religious Leaders. The High Representative underlined that there is mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Alliance.

Miguel Ángel Moratinos informed about the intention of the Alliance to intensify its activities in the field of combating terrorism and protecting the societies from such threats and in this regard stressed the importance of the Azerbaijani experience.

Minister Elmar Mammadyarov highly appreciated the current level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UNAOC and underlining the importance of the Alliance's active role in the fight against current challenges expressed the readiness of Azerbaijan to cooperate with the Alliance in this regard.

Furthermore, the sides discussed the other issues of mutual interest.
