Political relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are at a very high level. The relations of Presidents are also very warm. The relations have not been at this level up to date,” Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Javad Jahangirzadah said in an interview to APA News Agency.

The diplomat noted that presidents of two countries have met for 12 times, and the 13th one will be held in August, in the Azerbaijani-Iranian-Russian Presidents’ trilateral meeting, held in Russia. “As you know, the first trilateral meeting of Azerbaijani-Iranian-Russian Presidents was held with initiatives of Ilham Aliyev in Baku, the second one in Iran, and the third one will be hosted by Russia this year. The two Presidents have good relations in the international arena.”

Mr Ambassador emphasized that Foreign Ministers of both countries also have kind relations. “At the same time, there are good ties between Chairs of the Joint Economic Commission, and parliaments of both countries are warmly and deeply connected. We hope that these relations will develop much more. There are many things in common between Azerbaijan and Iran. These are religion, culture, and cuisine factors. As you know, elections for Iranian Parliament will be held in February of 2020. We suppose Azerbaijani representatives of Azerbaijan-Iran Friendship Group will visit Iran before elections- in autumn of the current year.”
