NATO Secretary General thanked Azerbaijan for its support to the security of the Kabul airport

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu attended a teleconference of NATO foreign ministers on the situation in Afghanistan, Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu wrote on his Twitter page, APA's local bureau reports.

In a statement issued after the meeting, NATO foreign ministers called for an immediate end to the violence in Afghanistan.

Answering journalists' questions after the meeting, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Turkey played a key role in protecting the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. The secretary general said that although NATO has completed its military presence in the country, it supports security at the airport.

The NATO Secretary General said he would not allow terrorist organizations to rebuild their nests and thanked Azerbaijan, along with Turkey, the United States and Britain, for their vital role in securing the airport in Kabul. "We are working for a 24-hour evacuation," he said. Turkey plays a key role. I especially thank Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom for their vital role in ensuring the security of the airport in Kabul. We are also grateful to Azerbaijan for its support to airport security."
