The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will continue the exchange of prisoners of war between Armenia and Azerbaijan after the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, ICRC President Peter Maurer said in an interview with Izvestiya newspaper, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
“Yes, the Red Cross has direct access to detainees. We can share our experience, we can give advice, but the relevant governments should determine the status themselves and give a final assessment. We keep in touch with both sides. I hope that in the future it will be possible to find a solution to the problem for all detainees in Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Peter Maurer emphasized.
