New resident coordinator of the UN Vladanka Andreeva has addressed a video appeal to the Azerbaijani community and partners, UN representation in Azerbaijan told APA.

"I am deeply honoured to start my work in Azerbaijan as the United Nations Resident Coordinator.

The beginning of my tenure in this beautiful country coincides with serious challenges - COVID-19 pandemic and post-conflict recovery.

The United Nations family has been supporting Azerbaijan’s response to these two events, working closely with the government to address the needs of affected population. We have also embarked on an ambitious, new five-year cooperation framework to accelerate the Azerbaijan’s progress towards the Sustainable Developmental Goals.

Next year, we will approach a significant milestone in the our partnership – the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s membership in the United Nations and 30th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Office in the country.

This will be a great opportunity to reflect on the many achievements of our partnership, as well as prospects for future cooperation.

I am looking forward to working with all of you – our partners in the government, civil society, private sector, academia and others – to ensure that we make progress in the priority areas identified in the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and support Azerbaijan in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals", noted in the video appeal.
