“We hope that new deal between Azerbaijan and EU will be completed till the end of this year”, said Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu at the press conference held regarding the results of his visit to the South Caucasus region with the FMs of Lithuania and Austria, APA reports.

He noted that in a meeting with Azerbaijani leadership, Azerbaijan’s role in the stability and prosperity of the South Caucasus region has been mentioned: ‘We hope that currently, EU-Azerbaijani deal that is at the negotiation stage will be completed soon. We agreed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to resume negotiations with the new deal soon. We hope that new deal will be completed till the end of this year”, the minister noted.

Romanian FM touching upon the Karabakh issue noted that large negotiations have been conducted with both Armenian and Azerbaijani leadership: “We called for constructive dialogue, the release of all detainees and providing of all mine maps to restore confidence. EU supports this humanitarian step and is ready to help in this direction. EU is ready to provide every support by the desire of both parties for sustainable and lasting peace. I mentioned the importance of reconciliation between both nations. Surely, this is such a process that will take time, it will be needed to take efforts. But there is not an option. We discussed many components of the sustainable solution in our meetings, but I will not able to give any details in this regard”.
