"Situation in the South Caucasus is always in the focus of attention of Russia. Certainly, implementation of November 9 trilateral statement of Russian, Azerbaijani, and Armenian leaders is a priority without any word," said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova at today's briefing, APA's correspondent in Moscow reports.

She noted the contacts with Baku and Yerevan at high and supreme levels regularly continue.

M. Zakharova stressed that Russia is in favor of the complex improvement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.

M. Zakharova noted that, generally, stabilizing role of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh is highly evaluated in Baku and Yerevan: “Thanks to our peacekeepers, the situation in the region has improved. The situation remains relatively quiet. Individual incidents are prevented in a timely and businesslike manner. The reason for these incidents, of course, is the lack of trust between Baku and Yerevan. Russia is in favor of the complex improvement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. Of course, we are delivering our position to the attention of both Baku and Yerevan. We call on both sides to solve the existing humanitarian issues quickly, exchange prisoners of war on the basis of the principle of all to all, and to provide full-scale maps of mined areas”.
